A Textural Touch For Any Home; Woven Baskets + Planters
This week, I’m taking a step back from posting about our house, because we haven’t been allowed to take a single step into our house in the past few weeks. Just so you’re in the loop, Casey and I tried to visit our soon to-be-home on July 31st but found both the front door and garage locked. So I reached out to our TM advisor and asked for keys but was told that per their policy, because we are nearing our close date, we are not permitted to enter before our formal walkthrough on August 19th. Bummer.
What is NOT a bummer, is my sister’s new pad, which I had the pleasure of helping her start furnishing a few months ago.
I am a strong believer in layers. Layering various pieces, colors (whether they are all within the same tone or not), materials, and textures. And I absolutely love thoughtfully designed decor, especially anything that is handmade or has a handcrafted feel to it.
On this recent project for my sister, I suggested a beautiful woven planter, within which she could place a tall plant like a fiddle leaf (despite my lack of a green thumb, I’m obsessed with them). Her space has a lot of new modern furniture, so adding in some imperfection, and the handmade quality, is key to making the space feel lived in and cozy.
Planters and baskets can be a great way to bring an added layer of texture and character to your home furnishings. There are all sorts of pots, planters, and baskets out there - it’s fantastic. But at the same time it can be pretty overwhelming…
To make things easier - here’s a round up of some of my favorites! One of the planters below is actually cement but has been made to look like a braided basket - so cool!
