2 Years Later…Home and Life Updates; A Personal Note

I can’t believe it has been almost two years since I last posted on Nilaya Interiors (December 2021)! So much has happened in both my personal life and career since then. I left my position at an established corporate entity and joined a small, well known, design brand that I’ve been obsessed with for years as a senior sales representative. The past 11 months have been busy with onboarding, networking, and seeking out new business opportunities.

At the same time, Casey went through a challenging season with his health (February 2022) which has thankfully improved significantly in recent months. He was also impacted by the tech layoffs at the end of last year and, after 9 months of persistent effort trying to get back into the industry, is now pivoting into a new chapter as a personal trainer (which he used to be when we first met). I think it will be a good breather for him while things at Bay Area tech companies stabilize and improve.

On a personal note, I have spent the last 21 months on an introspective journey, reviewing my private and professional life. The choices I’ve made, my relationships, where and how I spend my time, resources, and energy. And while it has been forged through difficult circumstances, I feel stronger, more confident, and in better alignment with myself.

That summarizes most of why I haven’t been on here lately. I haven’t had the inspiration or bandwidth to create and put out fresh content. I haven’t had the resources to purchase new wish list items for our home or follow through on plans and ideas I have had for over a year now.

That said, I’m feeling the creative energy flowing through me again, and some new projects and collaborations are on the horizon. Fueling this energy (and time) into my blog; here are some newer photos of our home with a few updates I have to share:

  • I purchased the counter stools I had been eyeing shortly after my last post (with the Christmas gift money we received). They bring a soft, textured, touch that complements the dining room pieces and the kitchen finishes.

  • After years of staying away from real plants (bc I wasn’t sure I could handle the responsibility), I brought a few new ones into our place, and have been learning how to properly care for them. They have brought life to our home, both literally and figuratively, and I absolutely love them.

  • Not seen here are updated pictures of the den and gym - both of which I will create follow up posts for 🙂

While it won’t be nearly as often as I used to write (once a week), I promise it won’t be another 2 years before you hear from me again.

Thank you for reading my update, even after all this time. As always, feel free to share any thoughts and questions below.

With love, Madhavi
